Understanding Acne: Causes, Treatment, and Prevention Tips

Acne is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages, especially during adolescence. It occurs when pores become blocked with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Overactive sebaceous glands, often triggered by hormonal changes, contribute to its development.

Hormonal fluctuations, stress, diet, certain skin products, and genetics can all play a role. Women may experience acne during menstruation, pregnancy, or while using contraceptives. Some medications, like corticosteroids, can also cause breakouts.

Effective treatments include salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and prescription medications to reduce oil and inflammation. Prevention involves a good skincare routine, avoiding pore-clogging products, and protecting skin from the sun.
