CULBERSON, TEXAS: Katy Perry, Lauren Sanchez, and other female members faced sharp criticism on social media following their Blue Origin space mission.

The short journey, hailed as historic, was ridiculed online as an elite “publicity stunt”. The mission included six women who traveled 62 miles above Earth, crossing the Karman Line during an 11-minute flight in Texas.

The all-women crew featured singer Katy Perry, TV host Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sanchez.

After their return, Perry and King both dropped to their knees and kissed the ground in the Texas desert.

Perry described her emotions after the flight, saying she felt “super connected to love.” She said it “is the highest high,” adding, “I couldn’t recommend this experience more.”

The 40-year-old singer spoke about singing Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ in space.

“I think that is not about me. It’s not about singing my songs. It’s about a collective energy in there. It’s about us,” Perry said per New York Post.

She mentioned the mission was “all for the benefit of Earth” and shared, “I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you, like how much love you have to give and how loved you are until the day you launch.”

Perry also revealed plans to write a new song based on her experience.
