Lights Cut Out after AOC Got Shouted Down

While this dramatic event was filmed three years ago in 2022, the dramatic incident shown is still relevant to current politics because it proves that even in majority Democratic areas, normal Americans are angry about illegal immigration. In the tense footage, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was shouted down by a crowd of her constituents who were furious about the resettlement of illegal immigrants in their city.

As background, the incident occurred at The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens in Astoria, which is located in the far-left AOC’s district. The congresswoman, who held the event to engage with her voters, got more than she bargained for when a passionate group of protestors chanted slogans like “AOC has got to go” and mocked the New York Democrat.

Voicing their anger, activists carried signs and voiced their anger at AOC by blasting her soft-on-crime policies. Cortez was left sputtering after a woman, holding a sign which read “AOC IS AN OBVIOUS CRIMINAL,” confronted her. Once she found her footing, Rep. Cortez claimed that she “Had reduced crime by up to 50%,” and bragged about the number of psychologists recently hired in her district.

Increasing the tension, one protester criticized AOC for her district’s LGBTQ+ shelters, which provide accommodations exclusively to sexual minorities. He asked AOC, “So if I don’t have [gay relations], I don’t have a place to live?” Rep. Cortez mouthed a half-hearted reply before the crowd shouted her down.

Concluding the chaotic scene, the event organizers turned off the lights and rushed the congresswoman out of the room. As the protesters continued to heckle her, the Democrat can be heard bizarrely claiming, “I’m not allowed to be in a room with the lights turned off.”

This is far from AOC’s only run-in with public criticism. As we reported, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at protestors who confronted her and her fiancé Riley Roberts on the streets of New York City by pressing her to condemn Israel for “genocide.” A masked man accosted the squad member, saying, “You refuse to call it a genocide. I need you to understand that this is not OK.. It’s not OK that there’s a genocide happening and you’re not actively against it.”

Escalating into a shouting match, the heckler continued. He said, “It’s not ok that there’s a genocide happening and you’re not actively against it.” Responding to the protester, AOC retorted, “You’re lying,” before quickly moving away from the confrontation. Although Ocasio-Cortez and her fiancé made their exit from the building, protestors followed her onto the streets of NYC.

Riley Roberts, AOC’s fiancé, was visibly frustrated with the masked protestors and commanded them to “stop” as the engagement had spilled onto a public sidewalk. AOC then addressed the group, stating, “I already said that it was, and you’re y’all gonna pretend that it wasn’t over and over again. It’s f**ked up, man. And you’re not helping these people, and you’re not helping them.”
