After more than 40 years of working with children, entrepreneur Duana Garrett is turning her passion for helping young people into a new community destination in Lancaster, California. Her business, Wheels of Fun, is designed for children ages 5 to 12, including those with special and sensory needs, providing a welcoming place where kids can skate, socialize and stay active.

Garrett was inspired by her years of working with children and noticing that many lacked accessible recreational activities. Some had never experienced roller skating, while others needed spaces where they could feel comfortable and included. She decided to create a family-friendly environment that encourages children to put down their screens, get moving and connect with others.

Wheels of Fun officially held its grand opening on August 16, 2026, at 44830 Valley Central Way in Lancaster. The colorful facility features a playful atmosphere, bright orange signature skates and activities aimed at helping children develop confidence, learn new skills and make friends. The celebration included skating, music, food and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

For Garrett, however, the rink represents much more than a business venture. It reflects decades of dedication to children and her desire to provide families with a safe and enjoyable place to spend time together. Her goal is to make skating accessible to more children while creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.

Wheels of Fun ultimately represents Garrett’s vision of combining entrepreneurship, inclusion and physical activity. She hopes the rink will become a lasting part of the Lancaster community, giving children opportunities to stay active, build friendships and create memories while simply enjoying the experience of being kids.
