Chirinos is said to have been reported missing on Monday (August 12) after failing to turn up to work.

Her body was found by law enforcement in her Las Vegas apartment four days later.

It’s believed that the 50-year-old retired Olympian died from asphyxiation, the Mail Online reports. A post-mortem reportedly found solid food remnants in her windpipe, suggesting that Chirinos died after choking on her food.

It’s thought she passed away on Sunday, August 11 – a day before she was reported missing.

Her cause of death is yet to be to confirmed by police, however.
