However, many Venezuelan families in the U.S. are devastated, fearing for their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dI don\u2019t know what will happen,\u201d Ana Maria Pirela, a 26-year-old Venezuelan migrant with temporary protected status, told Reuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dYesterday they fired my husband from his job \u2014 he had been managing a food store for two months \u2014 and I\u2019m two months pregnant. I don\u2019t want to go back to Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Venezuelan activist Beatriz Olavarriat has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/latino\/trump-administration-ends-tps-venezuelans-face-deportation-rcna190486\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warned<\/a>&nbsp;that revoking Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nearly 350,000 Venezuelans within 60 days could have devastating consequences. For some, returning to Venezuela could be life-threatening, while others may face imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome of those people that are here, that have spoken about the situation in Venezuela on cameras and everywhere, they set foot in Venezuela and they will be jailed,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/trump-administration-ends-temporary-protected-status-for-nearly-300000-venezuelans-report\/3532944\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Olavarria told NBC6 South Florida.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-reversal-of-biden-era-policies\"><strong>A reversal of Biden-era policies<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former President Joe Biden had expanded TPS, offering protection to over 1 million people from 17 nations, including Venezuelans who fled political and economic turmoil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many arrived through legal humanitarian pathways during his administration. Deporting them has been challenging due to strained U.S.-Venezuela relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But under Trump\u2019s renewed immigration agenda, Kristi Noem canceled an 18-month extension of TPS for Venezuelans last week and ended automatic six-month renewals on Monday. While around 300,000 Venezuelans still have TPS valid until September, their future remains uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/02\/04150611\/GettyImages-2194442210.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-163867\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kristi Noem \/ Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dYesterday ICE took a friend and her husband. There\u2019s anguish,\u201d shared Tatiana Vazques, a Venezuelan migrant in Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her family applied for U.S. asylum but lives in constant fear after witnessing recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-next\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump\u2019s administration is also eyeing an end to another Biden-era program that allowed around 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans with U.S. sponsors to live and work legally in the country. This decision could come within weeks, according to sources familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Venezuela remains plagued by economic hardship. Despite President Nicolas Maduro\u2019s efforts to control inflation, the monthly minimum wage sits at just $3. Maduro \u2014 who began his third term amid election disputes and ongoing U.S. charges of drug trafficking, which he denies \u2014 continues to face opposition both at home and abroad.
