Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck was found dead at her base camp in Wiltshire, UK, in December 2021<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An inquest has heard the chilling phone call a 19-year-old solider allegedly made a few months before she was found dead.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in December 2021, Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck<\/a> died at her base camp in Wiltshire, UK<\/a>, after becoming \u2018scared\u2019 by her \u2018psychotic and possessive\u2019 boss, the inquest was told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s believed Bombardier Ryan Mason caused the teenager to feel \u2018trapped\u2019 and \u2018not safe\u2019 at work,\u00a0as per<\/a>\u00a0Sky News, and that she was worried he had hacked her\u00a0mobile phone<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A service inquiry report published in October 2023 described \u2018an intense period of unwelcome behaviour\u2019 and said it was \u2018almost certain this was a causal factor\u2019 in her passing, Sky News reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inquest into Gunner Beck\u2019s death has also heard that she had made a complaint against a senior officer, Battery Sergeant Major Michael Webber, during a stay at Thorney Island, near Emsworth in Hampshire, in July 2021 for an adventure training exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lance Bombardier Kirsty Davis, who was a gunner at the time and trained with Gunner Beck, told the hearing that her pal called her<\/a> in the early hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the conversation, she said Gunner Beck told her that \u2018something happened that night, they were all having a few drinks, someone tried it on with her\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inquest heard Lance Bombardier Davis made a statement saying: \u201cHe was trying to kiss her and she was trying to push him away, he was pinning her down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lance Bombardier told the inquest that she was on a \u2018sleeping guard\u2019 at an airfield at another location and had received 20 missed calls from Gunner Beck before she spoke to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She went on to allege that Gunner Beck did not want her to end the phone call that evening and that she wanted it to last \u2018all night\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think she was afraid he was going to come to the car,\u201d Lance Bombardier Davis said, before adding: \u201cI remember him saying she was amazing and beautiful. I know this because Jaysley hated compliments and it made her feel awkward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She went on to say her friend told her he \u2018tried to force himself on her more than once, a few times. Jaysley had told him no, tried to get away from him but he had persisted so she left\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lance Bombardier Davis added: \u201cI do not know if he actually kissed her or tried to, I do not remember if Jaysley said he had touched her or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJaysley was in tears, she was upset. I think she was just frightened at what was going on and she was crying, just a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inquest heard that Webber wrote a letter of apology to Gunner Beck and was subjected to a \u2018minor sanction\u2019 after she made a complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lance Bombardier Davis said in her statement: \u201cJaysley wasn\u2019t happy with what had happened but if you are in the Army and a lower rank, no-one will believe you, especially against a higher rank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t want to get into trouble or cause a drama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inquest remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
