Karl also asked Schiff how the Democratic Party should respond to the president. The ABC News host specifically referenced Democratic strategist James Carville, who has suggested that the party should \u201cplay dead\u201d and consider a strategic political retreat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schiff said he disagreed with that approach and added that his party needed their \u201cown broad, bold agenda to improve the economic well-being of Americans,\u201d though he didn\u2019t explain why Democrats under Biden didn\u2019t adopt better economic policies to achieve just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to be advancing policies and making the arguments about what we have to offer, not simply standing back and letting them collapse under their own corrupt weight. To me, that\u2019s not enough. We need to effectively use litigation as we are. We need to effectively use communication to talk to new people in new ways, as we are,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other left-wing members of Congress have also rejected Carville\u2019s suggestion, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT., and said, \u201cIn fact, the problem is the Democrats have been playing dead for too many years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fetterman took to social media to criticize the responses to Trump\u2019s speech to a joint session of Congress last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several Democratic lawmakers held signs up during Trump\u2019s speech with messages including \u201cFALSE,\u201d \u201cSAVE MEDICAID,\u201d \u201cPROTECT VETERANS\u201d and \u201cMUSK STEALS.\u201d Shortly after Trump began speaking, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) stood up and began shouting that the president didn\u2019t have a \u201cmandate\u201d from voters, and was removed from the chamber on House Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other Democrats chose not to attend the speech at all, while others walked out while Trump was speaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
