The son of former Yankees star Brett Gardner died from asphyxiation, a new report claims.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday we reported the tragic news concerning Miller Gardner\u2019s passing after a heartbreaking statement released by Brett and his wife Jessica. Said statement outlined how the 14-year-old had initially felt unwell \u201c\u2018along with several other family members while on vacation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller. He was 14 years old and has left us far too soon after falling ill along with several other family members while on vacation,\u201d the teen\u2019s parents said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The devastated family\u00a0did not share\u00a0further details as to what sickness Miller had contracted while they were on vacation and asked for privacy as they \u201cmourn his loss and search for healing\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new report published in\u00a0TMZ, however, states that Miller died from asphyxiation at a resort in Costa Rica. The teen was staying at the resort on family vacation when he and others in the group fell seriously ill, as per Inside Edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local investigators said the teen\u2019s death may have\u00a0been the result of \u201cpossible intoxication after apparently ingesting some food,\u201d according to\u00a0NBC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juan Pablo Alvarado, an official with Costa Rica\u2019s Judicial Investigative Agency, stated that the preliminary cause of death has yet to be confirmed via autopsy and toxicology analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miller\u2019s father, Brett, was an outfielder who spent the entirety of his 14-year Major League Baseball career with the Yankees. The 41-year-old played his last game in 2021 and had been using his retirement to spend more time with his family in South Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yankees offered their support for Gardner in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur hearts are heavy, and the Yankees family is filled with grief after learning of the passing of Miller Gardner,\u201d the team said. \u201cWords feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It wasn\u2019t just Brett who literally grew up in this organization for more than 17 years \u2014 so did his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe grieve with Brett, Jessica, Hunter, and their community of family and friends in mourning the loss of Miller, who had a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and feisty personality, and a warm and loving nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur love for the Gardner family is unconditional and absolute, and we will offer our enduring support while understanding their desire for privacy at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
