Jimmy Kimmel has another update to share about his son\u2019s health.<\/p>\n
Seven years after revealing his son William \u201cBilly\u201d Kimmel was born with a heart defect, the late-night host is sharing a heartwarming update.
\nIn 2017, Kimmel began Jimmy Kimmel Live unlike any other show. He got personal.<\/p>\n
The then 49-year-old explained he and his wife Molly McNearney had just welcomed their son Billy, but he immediately broke down into tears as he continued describing Billy\u2019s birth story.<\/p>\n
Shortly after he was born, a nurse noticed he was \u201cpurple.\u201d Doctors diagnosed Billy with a heart defect, and at three days old he underwent open heart surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cSix days after open heart surgery, we got to bring him home, which was amazing,\u201d the comedian said. \u201cHe\u2019s doing great. He\u2019s eating, he\u2019s sleeping. He peed on his mother today while she was changing his diaper. He\u2019s doing all the things that he\u2019s supposed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kimmel revealed Billy would need to undergo two more procedures as he grew older.
\nOver the years, Kimmel has expressed his gratitude for the medical professionals who have helped Billy. This year, the father of four who also shares a young daughter with McNearney, revealed Billy\u2019s birthday wish was to give back to those who helped him.<\/p>\n
\u201cBilly is asking friends \u2018to give $7 because I\u2019m seven to help kids in the hospital.\u2019 (he also wants a spy kit) His goal is \u2018to raise $100 to help sick kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
After one day of fundraising, Billy was able to raise more than $42,000.
\nAlong with sharing Billy\u2019s selfless wish, Kimmel told his followers Billy was \u201cdoing great thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai.\u201d<\/p>\n
