I had to call one woman the b-word, but that\u2019s something else,\u201d the 81-year-old told her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/tv\/joy-behar-called-woman-bitch-italian-vacation-she-wouldnt-let-me-pee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-hosts<\/a>. After Whoopi Goldberg asked if she voiced her complaints in English or Italian, Behar said, \u201cI said it in English because she wouldn\u2019t let me pee in the first-class lounge. I said, \u2018Please, let me just go!\u2019 I said, \u2018Listen, don\u2019t be a bitch.\u2019 She wouldn\u2019t let me go.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though Behar didn\u2019t clarify if she was on a plane or a train, she did complain that she was \u201creduced to coach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-warning-not-a-plea\">A warning not a plea<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In April 2024, the opinionated Behar went after the much-loved country music song,&nbsp;<em>Jolene<\/em>&nbsp;by the beloved 78-year-old Dolly Parton, saying the song\u2019s lyrics suggest anti-feminism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First crediting herself as the person \u201cthat made Dolly Parton admit she was a feminist,\u201d Behar next compares the legendary song to Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s recent reinterpretation of\u00a0<em>Jolene<\/em>, on her album\u00a0<em>Cowboy Carter<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/shutterstock_1129097909-768x512-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4494\" style=\"width:521px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/shutterstock_1129097909-768x512-1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/shutterstock_1129097909-768x512-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While both versions of the song are about dealing with the threat of infidelity, Parton pleads Jolene not to take her man and Beyonc\u00e9 reminds Jolene \u201cyou don\u2019t want no heat with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, instead of \u201cI\u2019m begging of you, please don\u2019t take my man\u201d the Houston native sings: \u201cI\u2019m warnin\u2019 you, woman, find you your own man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI like the subject of Beyonc\u00e9 taking over the lyrics,\u201d Behar told&nbsp;<em>The View<\/em>&nbsp;producer Brian Teta on an episode of the&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/joy-behar-approves-beyonc%C3%A9s-jolene\/id1585703147?i=1000651353797\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Behind the Table<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;podcast. \u201cBecause the original thing with Dolly Parton is so, like, anti-feminist, worrying about some good-looking woman taking your man. If it\u2019s so easy to take your man, then take him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She adds, \u201cBeyonc\u00e9 says, if you take my man, you\u2019re going to be in a lot of trouble. I say, go ahead, take my man. Anybody else?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dolly-s-interlude\">Dolly\u2019s interlude<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s release wasn\u2019t intended to start a war between the two icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Jolene<\/em>&nbsp;is introduced by Parton herself in a short interlude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHey, Miss Honeybee, it\u2019s Dolly P. You know that hussy with the good hair you sang about reminded me of someone I knew back when,\u201d Parton says with her loveable southern twang. \u201cExcept she has flaming locks of auburn hair. Bless her heart. Just a hair of a different color, but it hurts just the same.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d dropped, the country music legend shared her enthusiasm for the release of\u00a0<em>Jolene<\/em>\u00a0with an Instagram post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She writes, \u201cWow, I just heard&nbsp;<em>Jolene<\/em>. Beyonc\u00e9 is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it! Love, Dolly P.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-beyonce-or-dolly\">Beyonc\u00e9 or Dolly?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans are divided over the two versions, some suggesting Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s lyrics are too aggressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[The] original version has class, intelligence and subtlety. It\u2019s aggression,\u201d writes one person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second netizen quips, \u201cJolene flirted with the wrong man in 1973 and hasn\u2019t known peace since.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A third, agreeing with Behar\u2019s sentiments, writes, \u201cI quite love this version because who begs a woman not to take their man [because] she can?? Unrelatable to a lot of people\u2026Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s entire brand is about strong women.
