Even famous celebrities grieve for their late pets.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recently,&nbsp;<em>X-Files<\/em>&nbsp;star David Duchovny said goodbye to his beloved rescue dog Brick \u2014 and wrote a beautiful poem as tribute.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-djur.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/06\/04174622\/shutterstock_2419166273.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33278\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kathy Hutchins \/ Shutterstock.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Duchovny, 63, adopted his dog Brick in 2015, and the dog has been a favorite among the actor\u2019s fans \u2014 Brick even had his own Instagram page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brick was found as a stray off a Los Angeles freeway in 2015 by rescuer Philip Steir, according to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/earthanimal.com\/blog\/2022\/01\/24\/celebrating-bricks-story\/\">post from Earth Animal<\/a>. While searching for a new home for the dog, he got a call from Duchovny, who said that \u201che wanted him ASAP.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Californication<\/em>&nbsp;star named the dog Brick in honor of former New York Jets offensive tackle D\u2019Brickashaw Ferguson. Brick went from living on the streets to living in a mansion in Malibu with his celebrity owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe began a new jet-setting life, traveling with David to his lavish Manhattan penthouse, to David\u2019s film sets David is on, and on his tour bus with The David Duchovny Band,\u201d Philip Steir wrote. \u201cQuite the life and life change for such a beautiful boy and a sweetheart of a man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BnthoTBhVGQ\/?igsh=dzlkbHJ2bHYwc3Vi\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, after 9 years together, Duchovny announced that Brick has passed away. In a May 30 Instagram post, he wrote that he \u201cput down my dog\u201d this morning, sharing a photo of him holding Brick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duchovny also wrote a touching poem that anyone who has said goodbye to a dog will relate to, one that expresses the idea that while a dog\u2019s life can be short and seemingly insignificant, they leave a big impact on the people who loved them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many fans and Hollywood colleagues expressed their condolences, including Duchovny\u2019s&nbsp;<em>X-Files<\/em>&nbsp;co-star Gillian Anderson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAwww Double D I\u2019m so sorry. He was your guy. RIP Brick Duchovny,\u201d Anderson wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-djur.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/06\/04174727\/shutterstock_93511288.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33279\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, David. Sending you love,\u201d wrote actress Leslie Mann, who appeared with Duchovny in&nbsp;<em>The Bubble<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are so deeply sorry for your loss. His sweet memory lives on through you,\u201d animal rights organization PETA commented. \u201cThe love you shared will be in your heart forever. Sending love and strength from all of us at PETA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brick\u2019s own Instagram also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C7mPUnfxv2j\/?hl=en-gb\">posted a final tribute<\/a>, reflecting on what a good life the dog had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sad to say goodbye to all my friends, but I am grateful for the life I lived. My life was a beautiful journey,\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne day I was living under the highway by myself and the next day I found the best family and roommates who gave me snacks, air conditioning, and a grassy field to play in. I also got to go to movie sets, concerts and meet a lot of interesting humans. In 2011, he&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dogtime.com\/dog-health\/general\/8948-reactions-to-pet-overpopulation-and-david-duchovnys-new-cause\">spoke on behalf of 600 Million<\/a>, an organization developing edible birth control for cats and dogs to combat the pet overpopulation crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And he teamed up with Brick to promote the \u201click my face\u201d challenge, in which people donated a dollar to the non-profit Target Zero for every lick their pet gave them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duchovny is a longtime dog owner: back in the day, he had a dog named Blue who would accompany him to the set of\u00a0<em>The X-Files<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"820\" height=\"752\" src=\"https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5074\" style=\"width:635px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-9.png 820w, https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-9-300x275.png 300w, https:\/\/kohajone.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-9-768x704.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rest in peace, Brick Duchovny!
