Despite treatments and surgeries, Gabriel still bore a large surgical scar, a constant reminder of his ordeal. Feeling self-conscious, Gabriel confessed to his dad that the scar made him feel like a \u201cmonster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heartbroken, John decided to show solidarity with his son by getting a tattoo that replicated Gabriel\u2019s scar. He entered a competition called #Bestbalddad, organized by the St. Baldrick Foundation, where fathers shave their heads in support of children with cancer.
