Rowling and Elon Musk have both been named in a criminal complaint filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif over alleged \u2018acts of aggravated cyber harassment.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a report from\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>, Khelif has filed a complaint to French authorities for online harassment she experienced during the\u00a02024 Paris Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.ladbible.com\/resize?type=webp&amp;quality=70&amp;width=3840&amp;fit=contain&amp;gravity=auto&amp;url=https:\/\/images.ladbiblegroup.com\/v3\/assets\/blt949ea8e16e463049\/blt1dd234d6d786dac0\/66bbe65b01251f44da81edb8\/GettyImages-2165116129.jpg\" alt=\"Khelif has been subjected to a wave of misinformation and hate throughout the Olympics. (Richard Pelham\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nabil Boudi, the Paris-based attorney representing\u00a0Khelif, confirmed to\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>\u00a0that both\u00a0Musk\u00a0and\u00a0Rowling\u00a0were mentioned in the complaint, which was posted to the anti-online hatred center of the Paris public prosecutor\u2019s office on Friday (August 9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boudi explained that the lawsuit was filed against X (formerly known as\u00a0Twitter) to \u2018ensure that the prosecution has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,\u2019 including users who may have used pseudonyms to spread hate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.ladbible.com\/resize?type=webp&amp;quality=70&amp;width=3840&amp;fit=contain&amp;gravity=auto&amp;url=https:\/\/images.ladbiblegroup.com\/v3\/assets\/blt949ea8e16e463049\/bltb7ad8cae04e6dc31\/66bbe678dfce091dc5b2a905\/GettyImages-1499013102.jpg\" alt=\"Elon Musk has been listed in the complaint.\u00a0(Chesnot\/Getty Images)\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elon Musk has been listed in the complaint.&nbsp;(Chesnot\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under French law, filing it against X means that the case was filed against unknown persons, giving Khelif\u2019s team leeway on who the suit includes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the complaint still does mention public figures including Rowling and Musk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJ.K. Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,\u201d Boudi confirmed to\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>. Wilson\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boudi also clarified that although the complaint mentions some names already he hopes the \u2018prosecution investigates not only these people but whoever it feels necessary,\u2019 adding that they will stand trial if the case goes to court and that it could \u2018target personalities overseas.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following her\u00a0match against Italy\u2019s Angela Carini, Khelif was subjected to\u00a0a wave of online hate and misinformation\u00a0regarding her eligibility to compete in the Olympics\u2019 female category for boxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.ladbible.com\/resize?type=webp&amp;quality=70&amp;width=3840&amp;fit=contain&amp;gravity=auto&amp;url=https:\/\/images.ladbiblegroup.com\/v3\/assets\/blt949ea8e16e463049\/blt98856a7827881067\/66bbe6cd94eea72596a4230a\/GettyImages-2164774410.jpg\" alt=\"Khelif's fight against Carini sparked intense controversy.
