He rented a mini digger and immediately began digging up dirt in his yard to make space for a pool. Keep reading to learn more about his dream project and how he managed to do it without spending too much money!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, Alex Doman, an ambulance worker from Essex, moved into a rundown home with his partner Sarah and their two young children Allie and Eddie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The house was a fixer upper and Dodman, now 38, was inspired by social media to tear apart the family home so he could build a dream home for his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The renos started with a YouTube video that showed a tradesperson putting up a wall stud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Falexdodmantv%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02ePYEuUsdBudFGneguLiYjBhc4mownQxWhd61gcHB9A2p54MUpV7dkG6kNNW1iVGNl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"645\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Dodman, who is employed by the National Health Service, made some cool upgrades to his modern home. He added a gym in the backyard, created a cinema area big enough for the whole family, and even installed a fold-down bed in his stylish home office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then he learned the home, purchased for \u00a3250,000 (about $322,000 US), had more than doubled in value to \u00a3525,000 ($675,000 US).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had the house valued and were told it was now worth \u00a3525,000, which I put down to the work I\u2019ve done,\u201d Doman tells&nbsp;The Sun&nbsp;in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Realizing he had a natural talent for DIY, the father was ready for his next project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-diving-in\">Diving in<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While taking a lunch break,&nbsp;Dodman explains&nbsp;that he \u201cwatched a YouTube video of a woman in Holland who built her own pool in her garden.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing that he\u2019s \u201cdreamt of having a pool\u201d and \u201ceven earmarked a little patch to hopefully build it on one day,\u201d Dodman dove right into his new DIY project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Falexdodmantv%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0Lqhi55HN4BWETDg64NtETQnu8JVsn9nNHpqSXajek9BzJj3rFpbqF5h4xCNWh5Whl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"645\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs soon as I\u2019d watched [YouTube video] I rang up and hired a digger. If you mess it up, you end up with leaks and things.\u201d He adds, \u201cBut honestly, it wasn\u2019t as difficult as I expected.
