Turning Point USA plans to stage an alternative performance designed to compete with this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, scheduled for February 8, the same night as the NFL championship game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. The official halftime lineup features major artists including Green Day, Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile, Coco Jones, and headliner Bad Bunny.

Turning Point USA announced its “All-American Halftime Show” following criticism from some Republicans over Bad Bunny’s selection, with critics labeling him anti-Trump and objecting to his Spanish-language music. Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has openly criticized Donald Trump in the past. In his song Nuevayol, he included a parody voice of Trump apologizing to immigrants and highlighting their importance to the United States.

The Puerto Rican star recently made history when his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first Spanish-language project to win Album of the Year at the Grammys. During his acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to immigrants and people who have lost loved ones but continue moving forward with strength, thanking fans and the global Latino community.

Turning Point USA confirmed performers for its alternative event will include Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. While the location has not been officially announced, the show is expected to air around the same time as the Super Bowl halftime broadcast on several networks and streaming platforms, as well as Turning Point USA’s social media channels.

Donald Trump has said he does not plan to attend the Super Bowl, criticizing the halftime lineup and calling it a “terrible choice.”
