Since the FBI released surveillance images tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, online speculation has grown — with many focusing on one detail: the suspect’s eyes. The footage shows a masked, armed individual outside the 84-year-old’s Tucson home early on the morning she vanished. The case has drawn national attention, partly because Nancy is the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Officials say the newly recovered video marks a significant development. The suspect appears to be tampering with a doorbell camera while wearing a balaclava, gloves, a jacket, and a backpack. Investigators retrieved the footage through technical analysis after the recording system was damaged or removed.

Nancy has now been missing for more than 10 days. Reports say two ransom deadlines demanding $6 million in bitcoin have passed, though authorities have not confirmed ongoing communication. After the images were released, social media users analyzed the visible features — especially the suspect’s eyes — with some speculating about gender. Law enforcement, however, has not confirmed any such details.

Former FBI agent Mark Harrigan noted the suspect’s unusual method of carrying a firearm, suggesting it might indicate inexperience. Authorities say the images have led to a rise in public tips but urge people to provide factual information rather than speculation.

Police previously detained a man briefly for questioning, but no charges were filed. The investigation remains active as officials analyze digital evidence, timelines, and other clues, while urging the public to come forward with any credible information.
