Body language expert spots chilling detail about backpack of masked person at Nancy Guthrie’s home

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has entered a more troubling phase as investigators examine newly released surveillance footage from outside her Tucson home. Nancy disappeared on February 1, and blood discovered inside the residence quickly escalated concerns that something violent may have occurred. Nearly two weeks into the investigation, the FBI shared Nest doorbell video that offers the first public glimpse of a masked figure lingering near her front door in the early morning hours, raising fresh questions about what may have happened that night.

In the footage, a lone person dressed in light-colored clothing approaches the house wearing gloves and a balaclava. The individual carries a backpack and what appears to be a firearm. At one point, the person seems to tamper with the doorbell camera, suggesting an attempt to avoid identification. The deliberate movements and concealment have fueled fears that the visit was planned rather than accidental or random.

Because of those factors, Constantine indicated she does not believe the footage reflects a routine burglary

Former FBI agent Mark Harrigan pointed to the suspect’s unusual handling of the weapon. Instead of keeping it concealed or secured, the firearm appears exposed and held awkwardly at the front of the body. Harrigan described this as unconventional, possibly indicating inexperience or discomfort with weapons rather than the behavior of a seasoned criminal.

The note’s alleged closing words — “Time is more than relevant” — have heightened public concern, though officials continue to withhold critical details as the investigation unfolds.

Body language expert Susan Constantine focused on the backpack, noting that it looked full before the person even reached the home. She explained that burglars typically arrive with empty bags and often work in teams. The fact that this individual appeared alone and approached from the front, rather than discreetly from the side or back, made the situation seem inconsistent with a routine burglary.

Additional analysis from former CIA officer Tracy Walder highlighted the suspect’s gait and the absence of night-vision gear. While walking patterns may reveal identification clues to investigators, the lack of specialized equipment seemed unusual for a carefully planned nighttime crime.

Meanwhile, reports of a third ransom note involving a new Bitcoin wallet have added more tension. Authorities have not confirmed its legitimacy, but the message has been turned over to the FBI. For Nancy’s family and community, hope remains for answers and, above all, her safe return.
