If the bumps persist, become larger, painful, inflamed, or appear unusual, a dermatologist or other qualified healthcare professional should examine them. Persistent blackheads may sometimes be removed through professional comedo extraction. Because these lesions are immediately beside the eye, professional evaluation and treatment are safer than attempting to extract them yourself.
