Actress From ‘White Christmas’ And Many Other Television Roles Has Passed Away

Actress Anne Langham Whitfield Phillips may be best known for a role she landed when she was just 15 years old. She played the part of Susan Waverly, the granddaughter of General Waverly, in the classic holiday film “White Christmas.”

According to IMDB, Phillips also acted in more than 60 other films and TV series throughout her career. Her credits include guest staring roles on TV series like “Rawhide, ” “Gunsmoke,” and “Adam-12.” She also acted in TV movies including “The Prodigal,” “Quarterback Princess,” and “The Six Million Dollar Man.” Her most recent acting role was in the 1999 movie “Cookie’s Fortune.”

Now, the B-Town Blog has shared the sad news of Phillips’ death. At age 85, she was not sick or diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. She was active and went for a walk on February 15, 2024. Unfortunately, while she was walking around her neighborhood in Yakima, Washington, she suffered from a tragic accident that ended up taking her life.

The type of accident was not specified, but she was transported to Valley Memorial Hospital where she died after her family said their goodbyes.

Phillips was married twice, but both marriages ended in divorce. Her first husband was Frederick Roy Schiller. They had two children together during their marriage from 1958 to 1969. Her second marriage was to John Foltting Phillips. They had one child together during their marriage which lasted from 1976 to 2008. Phillips is survived by her 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Phillips began acting when she was just 7 years old. She started her career acting on radio shows before transitioning to movies and television. Her most famous role was in “White Christmas.” This past holiday season, Phillips watched “White Christmas” with her family in honor of the movie’s 70th anniversary.
