The Grand Ole Opry denied Beyonce’s request to play there: You have to be invited to play the Opry

Beyonce called Joe Barron, Curator of the Opry, personally to ask for a date to debut her new song “Boomers are Bastards” from the Cowboy Carter album. Barron told her that the Opry doesn’t work that way and that she needed a sponsor or a direct invite.
She asked Taylor Swift to sponsor her, but The Opry doesn’t recognize her as a country artist since she was removed from The Academy of Country Music’s roster. Garth Brooks was also a “no,” since his membership was revoked last year.
As it stands, Beyonce won’t be playing the storied venue anytime soon.
As always, we’ll get the full report out as soon as we’ve confirmed the source or if the meme goes viral, whichever happens first.
