10-year veteran out as ABC News and ‘Good Morning America’ meteorologist

Rob Marciano, the veteran ABC News meteorologist, has been let go from the network.

Although the exact reason for his termination is unclear, last year it was reported that he had been “banned” from Good Morning America‘s Times Square studios after making a colleague uncomfortable.

Prior to ABC News, Marciano, 55, worked at several local TV and radio stations around the country. He also worked as a meteorologist and field reporter for CNN.

In January 2013 he transitioned to Entertainment Tonight where he co-hosted both a 30-minute and 60-minute program for nearly two years. In late 2014, he left ET for ABC News.

At ABC he provided weather reports for World News Tonight and the weekend edition of Good Morning America, a position previously held by Ginger Zee.

Prior to his official departure, Page Six reported Marciano had been banned from the GMA studios as the result of “improper” behavior.

“He made people feel uncomfortable. There was a period where there were some issues, a number of alarming events,” a source told the outlet.

Marciano’s firing comes two years after his ex-wife Eryn filed for divorce. The couple, who share two children, had been married for 11 years.

“The last couple of years have been very difficult,” he said at the time. “I didn’t want this and tried to save the marriage, but we are sadly divorcing. My focus now is on my kids.”

In September 2023, Somara Theodore took over Marciano’s role on the weekend edition of GMA. At the time, the meteorologist noted he wasn’t going anywhere, he was simply looking forward to an “exciting new project” with NatGeo.
