Ryan Routh, the suspect behind the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, has an extensive arrest history in Guilford County, North Carolina, where he previously resided in Greensboro.

Routh’s criminal record in Guilford County spans from the 1980s to 2010 and includes a variety of offenses. His charges have ranged from writing multiple bad checks to more serious felonies such as firearm possession, possession of a stolen vehicle, and multiple counts related to the possession of a weapon of mass destruction in 2002. Specifically, he was charged with possessing a binary explosive equipped with a 10-inch detonation cord and a blasting cap, Fox News reports.

A neighbor who had known Routh for nearly 18 years before he moved to Hawaii and left his Greensboro home vacant for over a year described his family as “weird” to reporters outside her residence next to Routh’s former North Carolina home.

“He had a horse in the house. I mean, a whole live horse in the house. But I could see the guns and stuff and all. They were … oh, I mean, kind of weird. But they didn’t bother me. I didn’t bother them,” Kim Mungo told the outlet. I told all my friends because they didn’t believe me.”

“It’s just crazy to me. He was a good guy. He was sweet,” Mungo noted further, adding that “his daughter was like” her daughter. She also said she would drive Routh’s daughter to school “sometimes,” though the two no longer talk.

Mungo said that the family never expressed any strong political views one way or the other.

Other neighbors interviewed by Fox News Digital were unfamiliar with Routh and expressed surprise upon learning of his alleged involvement in a suspected assassination attempt.

Civil court records reveal that after Routh and his ex-wife divorced in 2003, their daughter lived with him full-time, while their son remained in the full-time custody of Routh’s ex-wife, the outlet said.

According to a neighbor, the suspect’s ex-wife now lives with her current husband, maintaining a friendly and seemingly normal relationship. The neighbor also noticed what appeared to be police activity at their home on Sunday evening, shortly after Ryan Routh was detained following the incident at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach.

In 2009, Routh’s ex-wife raised concerns about his “financial situation” and agreed to terminate child support obligations.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and other law enforcement authorities shared details on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida, as well as the proximity of Trump to the assassin.

In an interview with reporters, Bradshaw revealed that a Secret Service member had stopped the purportedly planned attempt when they observed the rifle’s barrel close to the following hole Trump would play on the course.

Below is a transcript of the exchange between Bradshaw and a reporter:

BRADSHAW: “The Secret Service agent that was on the course did a fantastic job. What they do is they have an agent that jumps one hole ahead of time to were the president was at, and he was able to spot this rifle barrel sticking out of the fence and immediately engaged that individual, at which time the individual took off.”

Reporter: “So I just want to understand, there was a rifle — so one of the agents saw, on the golf course, a rifle pointing out of the fence? Was it chain Link — okay. So he saw that and engaged him?”

UNKNOWN: “That is correct, yes.”

Reporter: “The former president was on the golf course behind him? How close?”

UNKNOWN: “It was one or two holes behind.”

Reporter: “Why is that?”

UNKNOWN: “Because the bubble moves across — through the golf course, so our agents will get there first, clear it. He noticed that the rifle was pointing out, our agents engaged. We are not sure right now if the individual was able to take a shot at our agents, but, for sure, our agents were able to engage with the subject.”

Reporter: “Was he hit?”

UNKNOWN: “I — I don’t want to — “

BRADSHAW: “It doesn’t appear so. Yeah?”

Reporter 2: “How far away was the president? How far away was Donald Trump when this gentleman was fought and stopped?”

BRADSHAW: “Probably between 300 and 500 yards. But with a rifle and a scope like that, that’s not a long distance.”
