However, Trump’s team cited concerns for attendees’ safety as the reason for the change.

Social media users reminded Walz of Trump’s victory over him and Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate. Meanwhile, prominent Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Michelle Obama, declined to attend the inauguration. Pelosi’s absence was attributed to a recent hip injury, while Michelle Obama, though historically present at past inaugurations, opted out. She previously criticized Trump’s 2017 inauguration for its lack of diversity.

In contrast, former President Barack Obama confirmed his attendance alongside other former presidents. Obama and Trump recently made headlines for sharing a friendly conversation at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, a moment that seemingly left Vice President Harris visibly frustrated.
